I've just finished music preparation and copywork for film composer Nathan Wang's wonderful spy-thriller score to Zhang Ziyi's new film entitled My Lucky Star (放羊的星星). Music Prep/Copywork involves transferring (or "copying") the orchestra's notes, articulations, and dynamics from the full score onto individual pages, cleaning them up, and facilitating page-turns, measure layout, and anything else that will help the recording session run smoothly and with no wasted time.
My Lucky Star also stars fellow Berklee alumnus and Asian pop star Leehom Wang. It's a prequel of sorts to Zhang's 2009 "Sophie's Revenge," which Nathan also scored and I helped with. Filmed in both Mandarin and English, it opens in China on September 19. Enjoy the trailer below! - Love, Knox
